Assuring that the new output will be technically ready for the next production stages (no intersections, smooth geometry transitions, minimized stretching…)
Solid Modeling/Sculpting skills
Expert using Maya deformers
Strong understanding of anatomy
Ability to assess possible problems that need fixing: intersections, stretching
