AFTER HOURS RENDER WRANGLER/IT SUPPORT

Your tasks

  • Monitor, manage and keep the renderfarm running at maximum capacity
  • Maintain rendering priorities, blocking and unblocking jobs and allocating rendering resources when necessary
  • Identify and report render errors to artists/Production, developers and assist when needed 
  • Check and restart failed render tasks
  • Monitor disk space usage and flag high disk or network usage over-night
  • Restart unreliable blades and report them to IT
  • Provide first level technical support to artists and production team members
  • Provide additional information to, and where required, liaise with the IT team to assist in trouble-shooting technical issues

Requirements

  • A focus on Computer Science/Engineering as an undergraduate is a major plus
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX, in particular the shell environment and navigating through the file system
  • Basic knowledge of industry software is a benefit (Tractor, Arnold, Maya, Houdini, etc.)
  • Ability to understand basic computer terminology and identify hardware and peripherals
  • Experience with and/or interests in any of the following technologies and areas is beneficial: python, git, RHEL, rpm, ZFS, NFS, SMB, virtualisation, cloud infrastructure, network layers, data science and optimization, web development
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle a fast paced, occasionally high pressure environment
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work very flexible hours, including weekends and/or evenings.
